AUTOR: 
Ernst Neufert (1900-1986) nació en Freyburg an der Unstrut, Alemania. Trabajó cinco años colaborando en proyectos planeamiento y como director de obra en Wiemar y en 1919 ingresa en el departamento de arquitectura de la Bauhaus. A finales de 1920 abandona dicha escuela y realiza unos viajes de estudio por el sur de Europa, experiencia que publicaría en Das Jahr in Spanien (El año en España). Posteriormente trabajó en varios proyectos junto a Walter Gropius, y en 1924 fue nombrado director técnico del despacho, sucediendo en el cargo a Adolf Meyer. A sus 26 años fue nombrado profesor y director del departamento de construcción de la nueva escuela de arquitectura de Weimar, y poco después director suplente y responsable del taller de arquitectura de la Universität Jena. En 1936 publica la primera edición alemana de Arte de proyectar en arquitectura.
